You ever have so many ideas but never the means necessary to make them happen whether pure laziness or just not having the skill to do so? When i first met Adler it was an ongoing Q and A between us and our skill sets to put one another on, there is no better way to say everyone eats like one artists to another revealing their craft. I have always wanted to have a plaid flannel of a ton of different plaids and Ad happen to execute this hard 1 of 1 plaid flannel out of 7 of his flannels, a sacrifice i did not have the balls for.
Who is behind inmates apparel?
My names Adler but all my friends call me stitch. As for who’s behind Inmates? Myself, I sew all my designs by myself. Before dropping a piece I sometimes like to have my friend look over IT and give me some opinions
Describe your brand and what it means to you
I look at my brand as it’s own culture. My brand is directed to millennials who feel confined to societies standard Whether it’s race, gender, or style. Or even something smaller such as friends and family. I like to make my clothes with a sense of feeling or mood for each garment. Each garment/feeling represents social freedom.
Is everything handmade?
Yes everything is hand made and I’d like to keep It that way. But some garments get repetitive to make more then once. So I’d like to continue my brand with a mixture of 1 of 1 and manufactured garments.
How long would you say everything takes you?
It all depends on what I’m making to be honest. The long garment I’ve made has taken me 4 days.
How do you feel you've progressed since when you started?
I’d say I’m doing pretty good. From heat pressing to sewing my own garments and hand sewing my own shoes. I have so much more I want to learn and reveal to the public .
What was the highlight of 2017 for inmates?
When I released my 1 of 1 collection and Custom Air Force 1s. Everyone loved those. They went by so fast. That and the select artist I got my clothing in the hands of.
What do you wish to obtain from 2018?
2018 I would like to be in a mag such as vogue or highsnobiety. I wanna remove my brand from being unnoticed. I’d also would like to release better content and statement videos for better understand of what my brand actually represents.
Any projects we should keep an eye out for?
You should keep an eye out all 2018 cause I’m actually trying to change up my style completely and add different cultures to my craft. But starting off the 2018 year, you should keep an eye out for my next 4 releases.
How has starting your own brand helped you grow as a person?
It’s helped me grow a lot, the way I think is completely different. I look at life and the decisions I make a lot different. I’m more focused, I know what must be done to achieve goals I’ve set for myself. I like to tell people I was reincarnated in 2016, which was when Inmates Apparel was created.
Any tips or advice for creatives trying to get a jump into this year?
